“It is important to disseminate the data which has been collected. The easy access and use of data will help in better planning”, said Mrs. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun while addressing the participants. Mr. Timothy Schaffter added "The Lao EduInfo is a powerful tool to support Education Data" as he congratulated the ministry on the significant progress made as well as all involved in the data collection process.
Mr. Somkhanh made a presentation on evolution of EduInfo through collection of data, Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) reports and the need to make data available by using a database technology for dissemination and usage. The ceremony marked the launch of Lao EduInfo via EduInfo desktop application, EduInfo web interface, Profiles and the online Dashboard for National, Province and district data. This ensures that all stakeholders have access to this valuable data for making data-driven decisions at the national and sub-national level.
EduInfo is a tool for organizing, storing and presenting data in a uniform way to facilitate data sharing at country, province and district level. EduInfo contains interactive features which help users produce tables, graphs and maps for inclusion in reports, presentations and advocacy materials. The online version of EduInfo can be used for quick data search, designing presentation objects, creating searchable online galleries and generate visualizations based on custom data.
A 3-day training programme followed the launch ceremony, during which nearly 50 participants were trained on how to use EduInfo for data visualization, reports, advocacy and planning.
