The DevInfo Serbia website now contains five databases, each providing critical socio-economic data to development actors and the general public, as well as ways to visualize it with tables, graphs and maps.
The Municipal database will be updated twice a year, in April and October. The Population database will be updated once a year, in July, after the official vital statistical data are officially published for the previous year on June 30th.
DevInfo Database Administrators from the unit for social indicators shared the process involved in updating the large municipal database. In the four-step process, “We first very carefully plan the next database release by discussing with our users, colleagues from the Statistical Office, Ministries, UNICEF and other institutions on the indicators that should be in the new version of this database. Second, we send the data entry spreadsheet to the institutions that provide data and metadata for the DevInfo database, in order to add/update those files. Third, we get the updated indicators back and check them thoroughly and finally we create the new database and profiles, place them on the Statistical Office website and inform our users by email.”
Both databases can be accessed online at http://devinfo.stat.gov.rs or downloaded as desktop editions from the DATABASES section of the Statistical Office DevInfo web site, http://devinfo.stat.gov.rs/diSrbija.
The next database update will take place in October 2013.
