Punjab State is often referred to as the socio-economic hub of Pakistan and home to over half of the country’s total population. Throughout the 1990s and into the new millennium, as government organizations in Pakistan worked hard to develop programs to spur economic growth, there was no reliable way to qualify and quantify that progress.
The Government of Samoa further demonstrated its support of the youth sector by commissioning a database management training workshop there in early October. The workshop, sponsored by The Youth Division of the Samoa Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development (MWCSD), in partnership with the DevInfo Support Group, complemented an earlier workshop held in June 2011, to track and report on monthly developments in programs designed to enable the spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, social and economic development of Samoan youth.
The Center for Knowledge and Skills (CKS), an India-based organization working with non-profits to bolster their performance and effectiveness in executing programmes, recently launched a DevInfo database to track the production of jute in West Bengal. Jute is a long vegetable fibre that has been widely used in India for centuries to make clothes and essential household materials and West Bengal is a major jute growing state.
