Under the guidance of experienced DevInfo users Zodwa Dlamini-Mthethwa, Social Policy Specialist, UNICEF Rwanda and Margaret Gulavic, Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor, UNDP Rwanda the M&E task force will be implementing one of the latest innovations from DevInfo to track their quarterly and annual results of the United Nations Development Assistance Plan( UNDAP). The web-based tool, di Monitoring, is a management application intended to facilitate the tracking of development plans.
To kick-start the project that is set to launch in July 2013, the team conducted a weeklong workshop in Kigali December 3rd to the 7th. The team consisting of Programme Officers and M&E experts representatives from UNDP,UNFPA, UNAIDS, WHO, WFP, IOM, UNICEF, RCO and UNECA came prepared with their experience from the previous UNDAF cycle and visions for the new di Monitoring or “One UN Rwanda UNDAP 2013-2018 Monitoring”.
The di Monitoring platform allows for a variety of user types (Normal, Data Entry and Administrator) to use the web based application to not only track their progress towards achieving results but also to run reports and to track financial spending per project. During the workshop the team was trained in the user interface and in the creation of frameworks.
The workshop also gave the team time to work together to define the features that best fit their agency specific planning and reporting needs. Previously financial indicators and result indicators were tracked in separate systems, the team is now very much looking forward to seeing the two together in the same platform. Additionally, the flexibility of di Monitoring allows for the team to create multiple dimensions for each indicator, which with filtering and reporting options allows for a variety of reports, can be instantly generated.
Since di Monitoring is built on DevInfo technology the team will now be able to easily import indicators, including metadata, from DevInfo Rwanda. The UNDAP framework will also be able to be exported and instantly converted into a DevInfo database for the creation of visualizations in the form of table graphs and maps. The di Monitoring will allow the UN Agencies in Rwanda have an integrated platform for monitoring results at all levels and allows for real time analysis of results. Upon the finalization of the UNDAP in early 2013 the team is now prepared to enter and manage their framework and begin monitoring progress.
Data making a difference.
