Through two iterations of UN SWAP, core institutional processes were put into place for successful gender mainstreaming, 15 performance indicators created to measure outcomes, and reporting systems rolled- out for various UN agencies to submit their progress. This allowed individual UN entities to submit annual reports, including remedial action plans with timeframes, budgets, and responsibility agendas for follow- up in the case of sub-standard ratings.
Added to this, the system also measures the success of projects based on the UNCT Gender Scorecard. This initiative encourages gender- responsive performance management and strategic planning, the collection and use of sex-disaggregated data, reporting and resource tracking, and drawing on available gender expertise in the system at all levels to assist in mainstreaming gender equality.
As UN SWAP and the Gender Scorecard continue to develop, new stages of development center around the theme of the 2030 Agenda and how it evolves based on system-wide feedback.
