Scoping and Needs Assessment Mission with the Ministry of Primary Education OpenEMIS staff met with the Ministry of Primary Education in Tashkent to conduct a feasibility study and to demonstrate how OpenEMIS can be adapted to meet the needs of Uzbekistan.
During a scoping mission, OpenEMIS staff met with UNESCO and government officials to understand government priorities, including their desire for an updated Education Management Information System (EMIS) in the Ministry of Primary Education (MOPE). Through a half-day workshop on the features of OpenEMIS, government stakeholders were able to see the systems potential for improving EMIS in Uzbekistan, as well as for all users of the system. This also allowed OpenEMIS staff to discuss the current status of education information management in the country, as well as the need for a sector-wide data warehouse to track the education strategic plans of the country.
