Education Management Information Systems for Lesotho’s children
Through OpenEMIS, the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) in Lesotho is moving towards better education outcomes through timely and accurate sub-national data.
With assistance from UNICEF, the MoET is being guided by Community Systems Foundation in the development and implementation of OpenEMIS, providing access to real-time data to inform the Ministry on their priority areas. As outlined in the Education Sector Plan, this can include, but is not limited to, the state of literacy, examinations, repetition, dropout rates, and assessments. Through OpenEMIS, the MoET can address gaps in the education, provide better monitoring and transparency, and provide a robust decision support system for the country. This will help to ensure that existing education data is put to good use and that the implementation of OpenEMIS strengthens Lesotho’s national capacities.
