An initiative to improve quality of care for mothers and newborns in India Project ASMAN, an internet of things initiative, leverages multiple technology-based healthcare innovations to support safe health outcomes through and childbirth and to improve maternal and new-born health.
A partnership between the Reliance Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, MSD for Mothers, Tata Trusts and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Project ASMAN aims to facilitate the availability of quality healthcare under the five pillars of the Government of India’s Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Programme (RMNCH+A). ASMAN is an initiative for effectively driving the use of evidence- based best practices that reduces early maternal and newborn mortality by leveraging technology. The key stakeholders of this initiative are Government of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This project is being piloted in four districts each of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, covering 42 and 39 facilities respectively. Jhpiego is the lead implementation agency. The technology partner for ASMAN application is Avalon Information Systems. Salient components of ASMAN application are: 1. Case Management 2. Dashboard, Registers and reports 3.
